First woman in Oman in a minister grade

In a decree he issued yesterday, Oman's Sultan Qaboos bin Said appointed al-Sheikha Aesha Bint Khalfan Bin Jamil al-Sayabeyah, as a chairperson of the general commission for artisans industries, in a grade of a minister. This decision, however, is the first measure of its kind on Oman at that level.

Yesterday, also Sultan Qaboos issued a decree provided for the establishment of the said commission which enjoys full independence, supervised by the Sultan's court.
