Moussa denies differences with UAE over the initiative on Iraq
Regional-United Arab Emirates, Politics, 3/4/2003
Arab reactions have continued concerning the initiative proposed by the United Arab Emirates, UAE, on having the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein step down from authority, as a peaceful solution for the Iraqi crisis.
In this regard, the secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa has denied any misunderstanding between the AL and the UAE on debating the initiative. Moussa stressed that the Arab summit has to meet very soon in "resumed summit" to discuss results of the urgent ordinary summit which was held in Sharm esh Sheikh.
On the other hand, the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher said that the great coordination between Cairo and the Gulf states does not mean, any way, maintaining an agreement on all matters, remarking the request raised by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC member states to debate the UAE initiative within an Arab context.
