Saudi Arabia uncertain about the Summit
Saudi Arabia-Regional, Politics, 2/27/2003
Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said that the Arab summit will be held in its set day on March 1st, "but there are no great expectations." he said that Saudi Arabia will propose to the summit the initiative of the Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah on dealing with Arab conditions so as the Arabs will agree on implementing decisions they will approve and to have credibility in inter- Arab relations.
Replying to a question on resorting to an Arab mediation on the ground of which an Arab delegation will head for Baghdad, al-Faisal said that Iraq will be attending the summit and I think there will be a delegation authorized by the presidency in Iraq.
For his part, the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri said upon his arrival in Cairo in his way to Sharm esh Sheikh "we do not have special demands. But there is the Arab opinion and public asking their governments to take firm positions against the aggression on Iraq, because the aim of the aggression is not only Iraq, rather the Arab nation as a whole."
