Khaddam outlines Syria's position in an interview with AP
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 2/25/2003
Syria's Vice President Abdul-Halim Khaddam renewed Syria's opposition to a new international resolution the United States is looking for introducing to the UN Security Council which may justify using force against Iraq
In an interview with the Associated Press, Khaddam said that we are against using force by any state against any other state so there is no justification for issuing a new international resolution regarding Iraq, particularly that Iraq is implementing the resolution 1441,and the international inspectors are doing their job in Iraq.
Khaddam added that the participant countries at the Non-Aligned summit oppose the use of force to change the regimes of smaller countries.
He wondered what prevents a powerful country from changing any regime it wants, comparing this thing with the Nazi occupation of Europe in the World War II, indicating that the allies fought long and bloody wars to prevent aggression, therefore if we agree that the United States has the right to use force unilaterally it means that history should be rewritten.
