Sit-in in Rabat against anti-terrorism draft
Morocco, Politics, 2/22/2003

Some 100 people staged Thursday a sit-in in front of the Parliament building, to protest the anti-terrorism draft submitted to the legislative institution.

The protesters, gathered at the initiative of several associations, shouted slogans and waved banners slamming the draft.

Heads of the Moroccan Association of Human rights (AMDH) and the National Network against the anti-terrorist-law said the draft undermines the achievements made in the field of human rights.

Spokesman of the Network, set up Wednesday by associations, political parties and unions, said it will hold next Tuesday a press conference on the matter.

An awareness meeting is scheduled next Wednesday, the Network added.

Discussions on the anti-terrorism draft started this Thursday at the level of parliamentary committees.
