Canada withdraws its non- basic diplomats from the Middle East

Canada said yesterday it had pulled out its non- basic diplomats from Israel, the West Bank, Jordan and Syria and recommended the Canadians not to travel to these three countries nor to the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement, the Canadian foreign ministry said that the decision was taken because of the "increasing tension as a result of the position concerning Iraq, and the threats at the world level because of terrorism."
However, all family members of workers at the Canadian diplomatic missions were pulled out from Tel Aviv, Amman and Damascus and the Canadian representation office in Ramullah. Last week Canada recommended its citizens to leave Kuwait.
