One armed Saudi kills a British in al-Riyadh
Saudi Arabia-UK, Local, 2/21/2003

The Saudi TV said that a British citizen, resident in Saudi Arabia was killed by bullets in Riyadh yesterday and the attacker was arrested.

The Saudi TV explained that the British who works at an aviation company was exposed to the attack while he was in his car at a light stop.

The Saudi TV and a security source said that the man who was arrested is called Saud Bin Ali Bin Nasser and works in one of the car agencies. He is a Saudi national. The sources did not indicate the motive behind the killing.

This incident, however, comes in the context of a series of attacks targeted British and other Westerners residents in Saudi Arabia especially in the two past years. In June, 2002 a British citizen was killed when an explosive went off in his car.

In November 2000, One British was killed and his British wife was wounded when their car was blown up in al-Riyadh.

However, the big incident which targeted foreigners in Saudi Arabia was that which took place in 1996 when an explosive filled truck was exploded near a building in the Saudi city of al-Khubar and resulted in killing 19 American troops and wounding more than 500. Another explosion in 1995 resulted in killing five Americans in al-Aliya street in Riyadh.
