AL chief gets Kuwaiti complaint against Lebanon's administration of Arab FMs meeting
Kuwait-Lebanon, Politics, 2/20/2003
The secretary general of the Arab league AL Amr Moussa yesterday in Cairo received an official message of complaint from Kuwait on the way Lebanon had run the emergency meeting of the Arab foreign ministers which was held last Sunday.
The message was delivered by the Kuwaiti ambassador to Cairo and its permanent representative to the Arab league Ahmad Khaled al-Kleib.
Following his meeting with the AL chief, al- Kleib said that the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud who presided over the meeting on the ground that his country is the current president of the Arab summit, had ignored the request to vote on the final statement which was chosen by Saudi Arabia and supported by Egypt and Kuwait.
Al-Kleib added that Lebanon's method in running the urgent meeting was not organized and did not abide by rules and regulations stated in the constituent of the Arab League council, noting that this is a dangerous matter which should not be repeated in other sessions.
Al-Kleib said that the military build up and security agreements finalized between certain Arab states and both the US and Britain were found in order to defend these countries rather than attacking another state and threatening the Arab national security, considering that the statement is not in contradiction with the stances of these states which have security agreements and bases with the USA.
