L'Opinion daily: After 16 years in captivity, Moroccan serviceman escapes Polisario jail (daily)

A Moroccan soldier, captured by the Polisario in 1987, managed to escape the separatists' jails in Tindouf (south-western Algeria) in January after 16 years of captivity, L'Opinion daily reported on Tuesday.
A native of Rabat, Morocco's capital city, Rachid Ghaleb managed to make his way out of the Tindouf jails with the help of some friends, said L'Opinion, daily in French of the Istiqlal Party (PI, in government).
The soldier spent several days roaming the Algerian desert, before joining Morocco. Ghaleb is now under medical surveillance in Agadir.
