King Mohammed meets WB president
Morocco, Economics, 2/18/2003
Morocco's King Mohammed VI received in Tangier on Monday James Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank (WB), currently on a visit to Morocco.
The meeting was an opportunity to survey axes of cooperation between Morocco and the WB and to identify prospects for the consolidation of this cooperation taking into account the priorities set by Morocco in matters of economic and social development.
King Mohammed VI underlined that these priorities translate Morocco's ambition to build a modern, open and competitive economy. The king stressed his firm determination to make this development sustainable and to ensure its supervision by institutions and instances observing the rule of law in economic affairs.
Public politics, King Mohammed VI said, should be motivated by a permanent concern to encourage and promote private initiative and productive investment.
The WB President assured King Mohammed VI of his personal backing and of that of the WB for the materialization of reforms and programs set in motion by the king, and which positions Morocco for a sustained and volunteer dynamics of sustainable development.
