Iraqi opposition rejects American plan
Iraq-USA, Politics, 2/18/2003
The Higher Council of the Islamic revolution in Iraq which is considered one of the main Shiite Iraqi movements which oppose the Iraqi regime, with Iran as a headquarters, has categorically rejected that Iraq will be ruled after toppling the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein by an American military leadership for a provisional period.
One member of the central council at the council in Iraq, Sayed Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, said in a statement from Tehran that a project of this kind will create real problems in Iraq and will be conducive to instability in the country.
The Shiite opposition member considered this plan as a violation to the Iraqi opposition conference which was held in London in December 2002. He said that it is necessary that the US will agree on the responsibility of the Iraqi opposition to choose the provisional government and to run Iraq's affairs completely.
The council in Iraq said that Zalmai Khalil Zada, the representative of the US President for Iraq informed al-Hakim about this project last week in Turkey.
