News on the resumption of the Palestinian- Israeli contacts next week

Israeli sources said that it is expected that the Israeli and Palestinian sides will resume contacts by the beginning of next week in order to find out a solutions for the tense conditions in the Palestinian areas.

The Israeli radio on Sunday quoted the sources as saying that that the director of the office of the Israeli prime minister Dove Kliskis will be meeting with the interior and finance officials in the Palestinian Authority Hani al-Hassan and Salaam Fayyad for that purpose.

The radio added that the Israeli security departments are now embarking on preparing a detailed proposal to be debated to the Palestinian side on halting the Israeli escalations in the Palestinian areas.

To this effect, the US administration considered that a solution between the Palestinians and the Israelis would help in fighting terrorism and improve the image of the USA in the Arab states.

However, a document issued by the US administration under the name of a national strategy to fighting terrorism said that finding a solution to this conflict is a basic element to win the war of ideas, and that this issue had affected the image of the USA in the Islamic world.

The document said that the USA wants to maintain the establishment of an independent Palestinian state which can live in peace and security with Israel.

The document said that the US can contribute to a basic role, but, by the ultimate end, peace can not be reached unless the Israelis and the Palestinians themselves can reach a solution for the conflict.

The document indicated that eliminating al-Qaida organization is one of the priorities in order to eliminate terrorism and set a four point strategy which is: Overcoming terrorism networks and preventing them from any support coming from states, eliminating social condition used by the terrorist networks to recruit new members and defending the US against any attack.

In this regard, the document also admits that fighting poverty and social exploitation, is a basic matter to weaken the ability of terrorist networks to recruit members.

It also said that many persons who carried out the attacks of September 11 were from the educated middle class.
