Moroccan first female pharmacist receives French president's distinction

Morocco's first female pharmacist, Fawzia Fassi-Fihri-Benarfa, received in Paris a prestigious distinction awarded by French president, Jacques Chirac.

Besides being the first Moroccan female pharmacist, Fassi-Fihri Benarfa is member of the French national academy of pharmacy.

The pharmacist graduated from the Paris school of pharmaceutical and biologic sciences and was awarded the "Jules Brault" medal by the French academy of medicine for her research on Turkish bath as a favoring cause of some diseases among Moroccan women. She also attended the famed Pasteur Courses in 1963.

She received the distinction from Adrien Bedossa, chairman of the European council of liberal professions and vice-chairman of the French economic and social council.
