Egyptian exports to Russia up by 140%

Egyptian exports to the Russian market, though very weak, increased by 140 percent scoring a total of $11.8 million against $4.9 million in 2000, said a report sent to Foreign Trade Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali.
The report mentioned that Egypt's exports are rice, orange, strawberry and raw linen.
On the Egyptian imports from Moscow, the report added the imports dropped by 6.5 per cent scoring a total of $ 354.7 million until September 2002.
Egypt imports iron and steel, timber, fuels, paper and automobiles. The report, drawn up by Egypt's Trade Counsellor in Moscow, Hamdy Al Dardery, recommended that many products could be exported to the Russian market mainly: shirts, shoes, foodstuffs, ceramics, furniture, stocks, cooking oil, paste, onion, orange, shampoo, detergents, heaters, tissues and carpets.
