Syrians in the occupied Golan celebrate strike 21st anniversary
Syria-Israel, Politics, 2/15/2003

Syrian citizens of the Golan, under Israeli occupation, on Friday celebrated the 21st anniversary of the open strike in protest of Israeli occupation authorities decision of annexing the Golan and imposing Israeli identity cards on its Syrian citizens.

The celebration, held at Ain Tinah post and Majdal Shams town, was attended by senior Quneitra governorate officials including Quneitra governor, Nawaf Fares and party branch secretary, Farhan Abdullah who gave a word on the occasion and praised our people's steadfastness in the face of the Israeli aggressive policies as well as their rejection of the Israeli ID's and citizenship underlining that people of Golan are part and parcel of Syria and would not accept any alternative to their Syrian identity and loyalty.

Fares also praised the Golanese people's adherence to their motherland, Syria, and loyalty to President Bashar Al-Assad.

On the other side of the fence, the Syrian's under occupation delivered words expressing their Syrian citizenship and rejection of Israeli ID's as well as their rejection to the US possible aggression on Iraq. The ceremony started and concluded by the Syrian national anthem which was chanted by the gathering people on both sides.
