House of representatives' committee starts examining anti-terrorism law
Morocco, Politics, 2/13/2003

The justice, legislation and human rights committee of the House of Representatives will start next week examining a draft law on terrorism.

The government passed on January 16 the law no 03/03 that defines acts of terrorism and sets related sentences.

The draft law also covers the handling of financial information and the suppression of the movement of money destined to financing terrorism.

The government said the new text comes to harmonize Moroccan legislation with international accords and conventions related to the fight against terrorism and organized crime and to fill a vacuum in matters of terrorism crimes in Morocco.
