Morocco to import 800,000 tons of soft wheat

Morocco has launched a bid to import 800,000 tons of soft wheat to be delivered between April 10 and May 25, says the Moroccan grains and leguminous vegetables office (ONICLE).
The imported wheat will be used to make subsidized flour.
Between June and November 2002, Morocco imported a total of 2.2 million tons, a figure that represents a 5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Russia was the largest supplier with 16% of Moroccan imports, followed by France (15%), and Ukraine (13%). Canada provided 12% of imports, USA (10%), Brazil (7%) and Australia (7%).
