Preparations for Syrian- Egyptian higher committee

Meetings of the Syrian- Egyptian joint higher committee under the chairmanship of the prime ministers in the two states will be held on February 19 and 20 in order to increase trade exchange and economic cooperation and to eliminate obstacles deterring the implementation of signed agreements.
In a press statement, the Egyptian ambassador in Damascus Muhamad Ahmad Ismael said that the activities of the preliminary committee will start on February 16 in order to take preparations and draw protocols, as well as agreements to be undersigned during the deliberations of the committee. He indicated that a ministerial delegation accompanying the Egyptian prime minister will take part in the deliberations of the committee.
The Egyptian ambassador added that the Egyptian minister of state for foreign affairs Fayza Abu al-Naja will arrive in Damascus on February 17 to take part in the meetings of the committee whose activities will also cover several protocols in various cultural, sport and educational realms.
Ismael added that during the meeting of the Syrian- Egyptian joint high committee the value of reciprocated deal finalized between the two states will be increased from 200 million to 400 million dollars, especially there is an intention to solve all impeding issues concerning the Egyptian textiles and Egypt's imports of the Syrian cereals for exporting Egyptian products to Syria like rice and aluminum..
The ambassador indicated that the talks will also deal with the issue of gas between Egypt, Syria and Jordan and the current consultation between the two states' electricity companies to this effect.
