Arab body calls for completion of electric grid between the Arab states

The Union of Arab Producers, Transporters and Distributors of Electricity (UAPTDE) called, in Tripoli, Libya, on Thursday, for the completion of grids' electric connection between the Arab states

Participants to the fiftieth meeting of UAPTDE's administrative board also recommended the setting up of a coordination commission in charge of the implementation of the electric network between the Union's member states, the consolidation of common action and the support of the African Union's structures.

The Union also called for the development of human resources, along with Arab experience through training sessions, the promotion of relations between member states and for sustained efforts in industry materials and equipment production.

Distribution and electricity transport within the Arab states, experts exchange and raising citizens' awareness in terms rationalizing electric energy consumption were also among the objectives set by the Union.

Participants on their part called for the publishing of the third edition of the Electric Energy Guide in the Arab states.

UAPTDE, which is based in Amman, Jordan, has the majority of Arab electric enterprises in its membership.
