British minister decries Israeli destruction, killing policy
Palestine-UK, Politics, 2/8/2003

British Secretary of State to the Foreign Office, Mike O'Brian denounced in London on Thursday the destruction of Palestinian houses and the killing of two Palestinian nurses by Israeli forces.

"Such acts will only ignite the cycle violence and worsen tension," said O'Brian commenting on the death of a 65 year-old Palestinian woman. She was found dead under rubbles of a house destroyed by Israeli tanks in the Gaza strip.

The British official condemned the killing of two Palestinian nurses by the Israeli army on Thursday.

The diplomat urged the Israeli authorities to spare civilians life. "I urge the Israeli authorities to do their best to prevent further killing of civilians," he said.

"Security can only be reached through a negotiated peace. I urge Israel and the Palestinian authority to resume negotiations," said O'Brian.
