Iraq-USA, Politics, 2/8/2003
Official American sources told the London- based al-Hayat daily in its yesterday's issue disclosed a British- American formula ready for a second resolution by the UN security council against Iraq, that will be proposed by Britain in case the diplomatic efforts exerted by the US President George Bush will end the French opposition to war.
These sources explained that this formula includes proposals to give Iraq a final and short warning to get rid off its banned weapons and then, if the efforts fail, the force will be resorted to.
The sources said that Britain will spearhead these efforts within a strategy to distribute roles between Washington and London, and that London will make the greater efforts to convince France of supporting a resolution to use force or to abstain from voting such a resolution at the UN Security Council.
