Moussa: important and urgent issues at Arab emergency summit
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 2/7/2003

Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa met Wednesday with Chief Iraqi delegate to the Arab League, Mohsen Khalil.

In statements following the meeting, Khalil said he briefed Moussa on the details with regard to Iraq's cooperation with UN inspectors and its readiness to fill in the gabs referred to by Director-General of the International Atomic energy Agency (IAEA) Mohammed El-Baradei and Chief UN Weapon Inspectors Hans Blix.

As for the Iraqi expectations about the outcome of the emergency ministerial meeting and the coming Arab summit, Khalil said ongoing developments require the activation of the Arab League Charter and the Joint Arab Defence Treaty.

A unified Arab stance is needed in the face of constant American threats to wage war against Iraq, he added.
