King Mohammed receives message from Ivoirian president
Morocco-Cote D'Ivoire, Politics, 2/6/2003
Morocco's King Mohammed VI received in Marrakesh Wednesday visiting finance and economy minister of Cote D'Ivoire, Bohoun Bouabre, who handed him a message from Ivoirian president, Laurent Gbagbo.
Following the audience, the envoy of the Ivoirian president said he was happy to see that the sovereign was "very understanding" regarding the crisis in his country.
The Ivoirian official said the king was the first African head of state who sent a message of support to the Ivoirian president when the crisis first broke out, adding that he also heard the advice of the king on means to settle the crisis in the west African country.
The Ivoirian president has also asked his envoy to ask for the king's backing to maintain the African Development Bank's head offices in Abidjan.
Bohoun Bouabre had on Tuesday held work sessions with finance and privatization minister, Fathallah Oulalaou and industry, commerce and telecommunications minister, Rachid Talbi Alami.
Talks covered relations between the two African countries, indebtedness in Africa and the role of the Abidjan-based African Development Bank (ADB).
Preparations for the joint commission's meeting slated for next September was another theme of Moroccan-Cote D'Ivoire talks.
