Israeli Forces Raid AL-Magazi Refugee Camp in Gaza strip
Palestine-Israel, Military, 2/5/2003

The PNA said that Israeli forces backed by tanks and helicopter gunships blew up a house belonging to a Palestinian militant in a raid on a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip early on Wednesday, Palestinian security sources said.

Palestinian gunmen exchanged fire with soldiers in the opening minutes of the incursion into al-Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip but resistance soon died down, the sources said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The sources said the family home of Baha Saeed, a militant from Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction, was blown up.

Saeed killed two Israelis in an attack on the Jewish settlement of Kfar Darom in the Gaza Strip shortly after a Palestinian uprising for statehood began in September 2000. He was shot dead during the assault on the settlement.
