Madrid regional government wants strategic cooperation with Morocco
Morocco-Spain, Politics, 2/5/2003
The regional government of Madrid has announced "a strategic plan" to upgrade cooperation with Morocco. The plan covers the realms of agriculture, health, education and backing to small and medium firms, said Maria Teresa Lobo, an official at the Madrid autonomous community.
The projects will focus on the Moroccan northern cities of Tangiers and Tetouan, "for geographical and historical reasons," said Ms. Lobo.
The official, who is currently visiting Morocco, said she presented the results of a program to fight poverty approved by the Madrid autonomous government.
Lobo said she was hopeful that this cooperation will extend to fields that could generate new job opportunities and improve living conditions in the region.
