An official source at the Yemeni ministry of the interior said that the security forces in the province of Mareb, 170 Km to the east of Sanaa, was able on Wednesday to arrest the Islamist extremist Muhammad Ali al-Zaydi following confrontations that resulted in killing one Yemeni soldier.

The source said that the special terrorism- fighting unit was able to arrest al-Zaydi after he was wounded with one of his aids during the confrontation. Al-Zaydi is suspected to be a member in al-Jihad group. He took part in the fighting against the Soviet forces in Afghanistan.
