US deploys 35,000 troops in Kuwait

The American large military forces are being reinforced in the Gulf region, especially in Kuwait, where so far some 35,000 soldiers are being deployed. A matter which availed Washington the possibility of attacking Iraq in February.

To this effect, the US defense department said that number of the American troops increased within a week from 16,000 to 35,000 in Kuwait to the south of Iraq.

Those troops are expected to form the vanguards of forces which would take part in a land attack against Iraq in case the US decides to launch war.

The same sources explained that 87,000 American troops are deployed in the area and the neighboring states including 10,000 troopers in Afghanistan. To those are added 15,718 reserve soldiers who were summoned for the service last week.
