Special meeting for the Gulf foreign and defense ministers
Gulf-Iraq, Politics, 1/31/2003
A source at the general secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council states (GCC) has stressed that the foreign and defense ministers will hold a special meeting to be dedicated for the situation in the region and Iraq.
The source added that the meeting will be held in the first week of February, but it is not known whether the meeting will be held in al-Riyadh or in Jeddah.
Gulf sources said that the GCC six member states will work during their joint meeting to make assessment of the political and military situation in the region and measures that should be taken in their states to withstand the effects of the eruption of war against Iraq and to avoid its consequences.
The sources added that the meeting was decided after the leader of the American central forces Gen. Tommy Francs in Riyadh on Saturday highlighted the preparations to attack Iraq.
