Kuwait warns Iraq on any attack
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 1/31/2003
The Kuwaiti minister of information Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah stressed that Iraq will pay a "dear price if it attacks Kuwait " and accused Baghdad of attempting to escalate whenever there is a problem with the UN Security Council.
The Kuwaiti minister indicated that new security measures will be introduced in order to protect Kuwaiti establishments, citizens, and residents. He commented that these will be preventive measures despite the fact that Kuwait is not a side in the war.
However, this plan will be implemented as from Saturday ( tomorrow ) as special units belong to the ministry of the interior will be deployed in various areas and main streets in the 6 Kuwaiti provinces.
However, these Kuwaiti statements and preparations came following statements made by the Iraqi deputy premier Tareq Aziz several days ago when Aziz said that his country will retaliate against the American forces in any location where the war starts from. Worthy mentioning that some 16,000 American troopers stationed in Kuwait and are currently making military training near the Iraqi borders in preparation for any likely invasion of Iraq.
