Algeria: Five Islamists killed

Algerian dailies issued yesterday said that five armed Islamists were killed on Monday and Tuesday by the security forces.

Two gunmen were killed in Hammadi in Boumerdas area to the east of the capital Algiers after an armed group was cordoned including "a war Lord" in a house where weapons and bombs were confiscated.

According to the Algerian daily Liberty" two Islamists were killed on Monday and their weapons were confiscated during a mopping up operation near Batenah, southern east of the capital. Also according to the papers, the security forces in Miftah area, near al-Bleida killed one armed Islamist on Monday late evening.
