Al-Wattan: Sabri welcomes resumption of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia
Iraq-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 1/29/2003

Iraq's Foreign Minister, Naji Sabri, has welcomed the resumption of diplomatic ties between Iraq and Saudi Arabia if the latter has the desire.

In a statement published by the Saudi daily al-Wattan yesterday, Sabri indicated that there is no reason for the absence of diplomatic relations between the two states, and "when the Saudi brothers are ready to resume these relations Iraq will welcome this."

He praised the Saudi stance regarding the US. threats against his country. He pointed out that Iraq has noticed the Saudi pan-Arab position in rejecting the threats particularly following Beirut Arab summit.

He revealed that the talks held in Amman with regard to the file of the missing in the Second Gulf War resulted in encouraging signs for ending the suffering of thousands of the Kuwaiti and Iraqi missing.
