Russia determined to carry on contacts with Islamic conference organization

Russia renewed on Monday readiness to carry on contacts with the Jeddah-based Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in order to guarantee the world peace and security.
The statement was made by spokesman of the Russian foreign department, Alexandre Yakovenko, as the OIC secretary general, Abdelwahed Belkziz, is starting a visit to Russia.
Belkziz will review with Russian foreign minister, Igor Ivanov, the issue of Iraq and the international fight against terrorism. The situation in Chechnya will also be discussed, say Russian diplomatic sources.
There are over 23 million Muslims living in Russia.
