Shara and Yakis: We reject war against Iraq

Syria's Foreign Minister, Farouk al-Shara, received at his residence in Istanbul yesterday his Turkish counterpart, Yasar Yakis.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the region and agenda of the ministerial meeting of Iraq's neighboring states due to be held in Istanbul today.

Viewpoints were identical about the necessity of reaching a stance to participate seriously in averting the region the war and to keep its stability and security.

In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Shara underlined ''our viewpoints were identical and we focused on directing an important and simple message to the world which is we are for peace and reject war.''
