Spabunker oil slick: Morocco rules out pollution of its coast
Morocco, Environment, 1/23/2003
The Moroccan merchant navy ruled out "all pollution risks" of Moroccan coast by the slick caused by sunken tanker Spabunker 4 off Cadis shores, South Spain.
Maritime pollution technicians as well as prevention equipment, floating barriers, special barrels and pumps have been conveyed on Wednesday to Tangiers to stymie pollution of the Northern Moroccan littoral, official sources said.
Preliminary studies based on wind speed South of the Gibraltar strait and tide movement revealed no alarming pollution's preliminary indication, adds the same source.
The Sunken oil tanker was transporting 900 tons of fuel and 100 tons of gasoline.
