Construction of Egyptian gas pipeline to Jordan completes today

The construction works of the Egyptian-Jordanian natural gas pipeline is expected to be completed this morning.
A large Egyptian economic and legal delegation currently visiting Jordan had important talks with Jordanian officials on the second 380-kilometer phase of a natural gas pipeline to export Egyptian gas to Jordan, Syria, Turkey and other European countries at a cost of dlrs 350 million.
Egyptian Ambassador in Amman Mohamed Hegazi said the talks focused on the terms of the contract.
The details, of the second phase to be implemented by the Egyptian Fagr Company, were discussed with the Jordanian Minister of Energy Mohamed Batayineh.
The first phase has been developed by Al Sharq Egyptian Company, extending from the Gulf of Suez through Taba up to the Gulf of Aqaba to carry Egyptian gas to Jordan in June, the ambassador said, noting that the construction of the 14-kilometer maritime pipeline would start in March.
A consortium of leading Egyptian companies working in the field of oil and gas is in charge of implementing the project which is one of Egypt's mega ventures.
