Al-Khaleij: Syrian- Egyptian summit expected

An Arab diplomatic source in Damascus said it expects an Egyptian- Syrian summit to be convened within the few coming days aiming at relating the efforts of the two states' altogether concerning the Iraqi crisis.
In exclusive statements to the United Arab Emirates UAE al-Khaleij daily, the source stressed, when convened, the summit will help find a clearer perception of the diplomatic mechanisms which can be embarked on in the coming phase.
The source indicated the possibility to that the Saudi crown prince Abdullah will join the summit, but he ruled out the idea of returning back to the "Damascus declaration" because of the different prevailing conditions.
The source, according to the paper, indicated that Damascus and Cairo feel the need to complete contacts at the Arab and international levels prior to the convening of the UN Security Council. The source indicated that the current developments try to alienate the Palestinian issue from the forefront of world opinion, while Egypt seeks to acquaint Syria with the developments before the convening of the Quartet once again to the so-called Road Map solution to the Palestinian issue.
