Hamas rejects Egyptian proposal to halt Fedayeen operations
Palestine-Egypt, Politics, 1/18/2003

The Islamic resistance movement Hamas rejected stopping the "Fedayeen operations" (suicide operation) and having a truce agreement. This was expressed in Hamas' answer to what has been debated in previous meetings of dialogue among the Palestinian groups under the auspices of Cairo.

The leading figure in Hamas movement, Abdul Aziz al-Ranteisi, said that the movement conveyed to Egypt its final answer on what was debated and this answer is embodied by Hamas' non acceptance to halt resistance or having truce." Al-Ranteisi indicated that the truce which was debated in previous meetings in Cairo speaks about halting operations inside Israel for one years. He stressed that the inter- Palestinian sessions of dialogue will be resumed on January 22 in Cairo at the invitation of Egypt.

Al-Rantesi expected that Cairo's dialogue which includes all forces, invited by Egypt, to achieve positive results, especially as all these groups have a unanimous position on the right of the Palestinian people to resistance.
