On the meeting of the Arab ministers of the interior

The Syrian Interior Minister, Ali Hammoud, on Thursday arrived back home concluding a few day visit to Tunis during which he participated in the 20th session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council and the Arab Joint meeting of the interior and information ministers held in Tunisia 13-15 Jan.2003.
In an arrival statement to SANA, Hammoud expressed satisfaction over the decisions and recommendations adopted by the council for the interest of the Arab people.
He pointed out that a number of decisions were adopted by the council, including a decision regarding the possibility of adding some crimes to the terrorist crimes list according to the Arab agreement for fighting terrorism.
A committee was formed to set suitable means for putting an end to the restrictions on issuing entry visas to the Arab citizens, Hammoud added.
The joint meeting of the Arab Interior and Information Ministers, Hammoud said, on Wednesday underlined rejection of any possible military strike against Iraq since it would be considered as a threat to the Arab national security, according to the last Arab summit of Beirut. He said the ministers expressed commitment to Iraq's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
In a final statement following the joint meeting of Arab interior and information ministers in Tunisia, the ministers expressed support with the Palestinian people in his struggle and resistance of the Israeli occupation. The statement, Hammoud said, "called for the international community to provide the Palestinian people with an international protection against the Israeli state terrorism and the implementation of the UN resolutions which call for the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Arab territories till the June 4th 1967 line and the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."
The ministers reiterated their condemnation of terrorism with all its shapes calling for the necessity of distinction between it and peoples' rights in resisting occupation, Hammoud said.
