Bahrain: acts of riot did not target the Saudis

Bahrain's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Rashed al-Dousari, said that investigations are continuous in the acts of riots that took place in Manama on the new year's ( Christmas ) celebrations, stressing that the Bahraini authorities will take strong measures against those will be proved to be involved in the incidents.

This was expressed during the meeting between the Emir of eastern region Muhammad Bin Fahd and the Bahraini ambassador in his office at al-Imara palace in Riyadh on Tuesday.

In a statement following the meeting, ambassador al-Dousari said that the acts of riots that took place at the new year celebrations were indiscriminat and targeted all including Saudis and Bahraini as well as Gulf people and did not target a certain group of persons.

The Bahraini ambassador stressed that relations are normal between the two states and such events will not affect the common relations and that there are no urgent measures, considering that such incidents are now history.

He said that the Bahraini authorities started to bring certain involved persons for trials and they will strongly be punished in case they are proved to be involved.

As for compensation for damage inflicted as a result of the acts of riot, he said there is a certain decision which states to compensate for damages and it will take time to specify the compensation.
