Turkey establishes a camp for likely Iraqi refugees
Iraq-Turkey, Politics, 1/17/2003
The Anadolia news agency said that Turkey will establish a camp including 24,000 tents in order to contain a likely flow of refugees in case a war is launched against Iraq.
At the meantime, a team from the Turkish Red Crescent is inspecting the site dedicated for the camp near Seyloubi, just several kilometers from the Iraqi borders. The local ruler Ghogan Eidner said that the Red Crescent will also install its main warehouse for the area in Seyloubi.
Recently, the Turkish Red Crescent announced ongoing measures to enable it to accommodate 100,000 coming from North Iraq.
The Turkish papers said that the Turkish authorities are planning to establish 13 camps for refugees on the Iraqi side of the borders and other five camps on the Turkish territories.
