Moussa: Libya gives up on withdrawing from the Arab League
Libya-Regional, Politics, 1/16/2003
The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa said yesterday that Libya does no want anymore to withdraw from the Arab League.
He added that the question of Libya's withdrawal has been settled for ever and this matter should be abolished from memory.
Moussa gave no mention to reasons which pushed the Libyan leadership to change its view points concerning the Arab League, but he said that the forthcoming Arab summit which will be held in Bahrain in March will discuss the Saudi and Libyan proposals in order to reactivate the Arab policy concerning the Iraqi crisis with the USA and also the Israeli- Palestinian conflict.
Meantime, Canada said yesterday that it will join the US in the attempt to prevent Libya from presiding over the UN human rights committee under the claim that Tripoli commits several violations of human rights.
