Sudanese diplomatic sources said that the meetings were to deal with the efforts made to put an end to the civil war in Sudan and Somalia.

The Yemeni foreign minister Abu Baker Abdullah al-Qurabi denied that these meetings are directed against Eritrea which has challenging relations with its three neighbors.

The Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael said that the meeting will deal with means of attaining stability and achieving the interests of the people of the region.

For his part, Ethiopia's foreign minister Sayoum Mesven indicated the need of maintaining cooperation in order to achieve peace and establish security in the whole region.

On the other hand, the leadership of the Sudanese army announced that the rebel forces launched an attack against the Sudanese regular armed forces working in Rabkouna- Elleir road in al-Wahda province.

The official spokesman for the Sudanese army Lt. Gen. Muhammad Bashir Suleiman said in a statement that the attack was responded to.
