Israeli forces kill seven Palestinians, scores wounded, escalated threats

The Israeli forces yesterday broke into Beit Hanoun, Khan Younis al-Qarrara town and Hebron and strong confrontation took place between the Palestinians and the Israelis that resulted in killing five Palestinians and wounding several others.

The Palestinians retaliated by escalating their attacks against the Israeli positions and al-Qassam groups fired missiles at Israeli settlements.

Detailed news reports said that two Palestinians were shot and another was wounded as a result of the Israeli helicopter bombardment of a Palestinian sedan car in the city of Khan Younis.

The two Palestinians Abdul Latif Wadi ( 22 year old) and Ali Zaher Nasser ( 45 year old) and other 19 were wounded when the Israeli tanks and armored vehicles broke into Beit Hanoun town and the city of Khan Younis in Gaza, escorted by helicopters and the bombardment resulted in destroying several houses and damaging properties.

The Israeli radio admitted that the invading forces were strongly resisted and that the Israeli tanks destroyed 22 "smith workshop" in Khan Younis area alone.

Meantime, two Palestinians, who broke into Ghadish settlement to the North of Palestine were shot on Sunday evening. Israeli military sources said that the attack resulted in killing one Israeli settler and wounding other two.

In Hebron, the Palestinian Hazim Zanoun were killed and another wounded as a result of an Israeli forces attack against their car while they were on their way to the city. The Palestinians retaliated by attacking the raiding Israeli armored vehicle.

Other Palestinians attacked by bombs an Israeli patrol in Toulkarem and another one in Jenin, while Ezz Eddine al-Qassam groups fired six "Qassam 2" missiles against the Israeli settlements in Negev.

In a statement, the Palestinians said that "attacking the two Israeli settlements of Ajdrout and Sadyarout come in retaliation to the Israeli forces invasion of Khan Younis and Beit Hanoun."

Meantime, the Palestinians al-Meizan ( the balance ) center for human rights said the occupation forces killed with the policy of assassination and during their indiscriminate invasion of the provinces of Gaza's areas about 726 Palestinians including 196 children.

The center added in its report issued recently that 74% died immediately while 5.29 % died because the Israeli forces obstructed admitting them to hospitals.

The report said that 657 of the killed Palestinians were shot in the governorates of Gaza, 66 from Gaza were shot in the West Bank and 3 inside the occupied territories of 1948. The report said that 94 % of the killed Palestinians are males and 6 % are female.

The report explained that 2249 houses were destroyed during the two years of the Palestinian Intifada in Gaza and 17619 dunnums of lands were leveled and 164 water wells dumped, and families damaged as a result of the Israeli policy of targeting houses numbered 2092 as December 2000 witnessed the highest destruction rate with 258 houses demolished.
