Qathafi wants US compensation for killing his daughter, same as Lockerbie
Libya-USA, Politics, 1/13/2003
Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi has expressed his hope to settle the Lockerbie issue. He added that his country is ready to pay the necessary compensation but not alone, noting the possibility that Libya and the USA will contribute to a compensation fund.
News reports quoted Qathafi as saying in an interview with News Week magazine issued on Saturday that the US has to pay compensations for the Libyans who were killed in 1986 and also to victims of Lockerbie, adding that the question of compensation was not discussed yet through diplomatic channels.
Qathafi questioned the size of compensation that should be paid for his daughter who was killed with other victims as a result of a military attack launched by the US against Libya in 1986, just two years before the Lockerbie incident, as each and every one of the American victim in the Lockerbie incident should be paid USD 10 million.
Qathafi explained that he is optimistic over his country's future relations with the USA. He expressed his desire that Libya will be part of world peace.
