Arab Students Federation Conference opens in Damascus
Regional-Syria, Politics, 1/10/2003
The fourth conference of the Arab Students Federation was opened in Damascus yesterday.
The Assistant Regional Secretary of the Ba'ath Arab Socialist Party (BASP), Suleiman Qaddah represented President Assad at the opening.
Qaddah delivered a speech where he asserted that "President Bashar al-Assad's continued efforts and meetings aim at defending the Arab dignity, presenting the justice and legitimacy of their causes and rights, exposing the Israeli falsified allegations and its hostility towards peace, activating Arab solidarity and coordination for confronting the dangers of aggression and at unifying Arab efforts to the interest of the Pan-Arab causes."
He indicated that "continuation of the Israeli aggressive campaign, allegations and threats against Syria express the aggressive principled policy in the Zionist method against Syria's steadfastness and her commitment to the Arab rights, and crystallize failure of Sharon's policy to cover his crimes and massacres."
Qaddah underlined that such threats and false allegations "will not deter us from steadfastness, commitment to our rights, working for the liberation of every inch of the occupied Arab territories and clinging to our principles stances."
Qaddah appreciated the distinguished role of the Arab popular organizations and unions in boosting the Pan-Arab thought and education and in deepening ties.
Other delivered speeches pointed out the critical stage which the region passes through because of the Israeli escalation of tension, crimes, and terrorist practices perpetrated against the Palestinian people. Speeches indicated that "we are facing large challenges and several dangers which necessitate firm stances for confronting them by gearing up all efforts to avert the region dangers of war and combating discrimination and extremism."
