Paris-Dakar-Sharm El-Sheik Rally

In light of the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Tourism for promoting tourism movement to Egypt, the Paris-Dakar-Sharm el-Sheikh Rally, which comes the first in the agenda of international rallies, would be held from January 11th to 19th, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism.

The Rally is being organised by the French Amaury Sport and Misr Travel.

A higher committee, from the Ministry of Tourism and the Egyptian Tourist Authority, has been formed to follow up with the Rally final preparations.

Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, Board Chairman and Managing Director of Misr Travel said that the first stage of the 2003 rally would start in Paris, passing through Spain, Tunisia then Libya.

The race would end in Egypt, specifically in Sharm el-Sheikh, after passing through Siwa Oasis, al Dakhla Oasis, Luxor City and Abu al Reesh

The Rally would go on inside Egypt for six days.

More than 395 racers, representing 35 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia, in addition to two racers from North and South America, are due to take part in the Rally.

More than 132 represent fives of international mass media and various satellite TV channels in Europe, Asia, Africa and America would broadcast the international event, which marks the Silver Jubilee of the Rally (25th anniversary)
