Jordan-Israel, Economics, 1/8/2003
Jordanian official statistics show that the volume of trade with Israel increased in the first 11 months of 2002 by 26.9% in comparison with the same period of 2001.
These statistics issued by the general statistics department in Amman said that the volume of trade between the two countries increased to 226.7 million dollars in 2002 in comparison with 188.8 million in the preceding year.
The general statistics department did not indicate the reasons behind this increase which took place despite the repeated called made by the Jordanian opposition parties to boycott trade with Israel.
The data explained that Jordan's exports to Israel in 2002 reached 113.6 million dollars in comparison with 92.5 million for the same period of 2002; while the kingdom's imports from Israel reached during the first 11 months of 2002 113.5 million in comparison with 96.3 million for the same period in 2001.
