Saddam' s speech at Army's 82nd Foundation Anniversary
Iraq, Politics, 1/7/2003

The Iraqi President Saddam Hussein yesterday accused the UN inspectors of carrying out just the work of intelligence and spying, and announced that Iraq has prepared for a likely American attack.

In a speech broadcast yesterday by the Iraqi TV and radio on the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the foundation of the Iraqi army, Hussein explained that instead of searching for what is called the mass destruction weapons, the inspections teams are interests in collecting lists in the name of Iraqi scientists and asking implicit question to workers gathering information about the army camps and the legal army production and all these or most of them are just intelligence activities.

He stressed that Iraq is not the only target, rather "the enemy seeks to occupy physically the whole Arab Gulf to achieve numerous objectives, among which are to interfere politically and militarily in the Gulf states."
