Bush extends economic sanctions on Libya
Libya-USA, Politics, 1/6/2003

US President George Bush has extended for one more year, the economic sanctions imposed by the US against Libya since January 1986.

In a statement, the White House announced that President Bush considered in a message addressed to the leaders of the Congress that despite that the UN had lifted the sanctions from Libya and its handing of its two citizens suspected to be involved in the Lockerbie incident, however, Libya did not completely abide by the UN resolutions in admission of its responsibility for the incident and paying the financial compensations for the victims of the incident.

The UN had suspended sanctions imposed on Libya in 1999 After Libya had accepted to hand over its two citizens for trial.
