Yemeni government orders military men to shave their beards
Yemen, Politics, 1/4/2003
A well-informed Yemeni source said yesterday that "Higher instructions were given yesterday to leaders of the military contingents and the Yemeni ministry of the interior on the need to that all its members to abide by wearing the military uniform and the most important in that is that each member to the Yemeni military establishment to be beard - shaved."
He added that the decision was enforced as from today ( yesterday ) Friday, at a time when many military men were seen shaving their beards after they were prevented from entering their camps. One of them said "I was prevented from entering my camp which is near to Sanaa international airport until I shaved my beard, and this measure was not taken before." This measure, however, comes after less than one day when the Yemeni authorities disclosed investigations with the executors of the two operations that killed the assistant secretary general of the Yemeni Socialist Party Jarullah Omar and three American doctors.
